WHAT'S NEW AT SJM

A CONTEMPORARY AESTHETIC

Posted on 01/17/2014 at 6:59 AM

SJM recently had the great opportunity to work with Hildreth Construction and Spiller Studio, thestudiospiller.com,  on a kitchen remodel.  Rachel Spiller created a contemporary design to update her parent's, Curtis and Joan Broek, kitchen and adjacent sitting area.  Mark Hildreth pointed her in our direction for the cabinets and millwork.

Using a tobacco stain and finish on Maple created an attractive contrast to the white quartz tops (MS Construction LLC).  To build on this concept, SJM provided white Parapan doors and cladding on one set of uppers using Aventos vertical lift doors.  Ms. Spiller specified the refrigerator and freezer (Thermador) as separate units w/ panel fronts.  They were placed in a pantry wall creating a consistent pattern.  An access door to the basement was placed behind a panel w/ a touch latch creating a singular element that is the pantry.

Two Rivers Glass supplied white mirror panels (31x38) that SJM used for sliding door fronts on spice cabinets.  These doors were on the sides of a white quartz backsplash behind the cooktop (KitchenAid).

For the project, Hildreth Construction also opened up the exterior wall to allow greater light (as is very evident by these early morning images).  Other subcontractors involved were:

Prairie Pella

Premier Plumbing

Custom Electrical Services

Wildwood Floors

Reid Painting

Comisky glass

It was a fun project and it came out very well.  I hope to get more images up on the regular site soon.
